CLINIC NEWS
Welcome, Karl and Tina
We have welcomed two new staff members to our happy family recently.
Tina is our new trainee veterinary nurse. She has been studying her Certificate II in Animal Care at TAFE, and is really excited about starting her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in the next few weeks. Tina exudes energy and enthusiasm, and we are certain that her natural warmth will make her very popular with our clients.
Karl is our new veterinary associate. He grew up in Malaysia, but completed his secondary schooling and veterinary degree in New Zealand. Karl also has extended family in Adelaide, which is what brought him here to us! Karl is a very kind, gentle person with a lovely sense of humour, so we know that he will fit in well both with our clients and the rest of the staff!
Our clinic does a broad range of services and surgeries, and Karl and Tina are both really enjoying the diversity and experience in the many different facets of veterinary practice that working with us brings. I am sure that all of you will welcome them, and appreciate the care, compassion and knowledge that they bring to your pet's wellbeing.
March 1st Birthday celebrations
What a great day we had at our 12 th Birthday party. There was so much cake to eat that we all had ‘vettie' bags to take home at the end of the day and the fridge was still full. Thanks to all our clients who came in and helped us celebrate with a chat and their generous donations to our charity collection of the day. $263.50 was raised for New Zealand Earthquake's Red Cross support. The winner of our ‘lollies in the jar' competition guessed within 10 of the correct number of 296 snakes, jelly beans and frogs and will now have to eat them, all herself, good chewing!
Crazy Tues will continue on the 5 of April with another themed day and the option to donate to our chosen charity.
Pam West goes north
Sad news for the practice as Pam West, one of our original nursing team, has decided to move on from the veterinary nursing business and change course into small business office management. All her years of experience with clients, MYOB and account handling will stand in her good stead in the real world outside. We will miss the calm efficiency and knowledge she always brought to her work.
We wish her all the best for the future, and happiness in her new career. Hopefully her new customers won't have the same urges to urinate and drool on her as much, her home laundry bills will certainly be much less.
Heartworm Test and Proheart injection Promotion extended
Due to popular demand our complimentary Heartworm test promotion from February and March will be extended through to the end of April.
It has been a great success, with 25 dogs which had previously been in danger of heartworm infection having been tested ‘negative' for current infection. They all immediately received the Proheart injection for protection against heartworm infection for the next year.
If you struggle to remember the monthly dosing tablet, dogs which have previously been on regular heartworm prevention tablets can have the Proheart injection at any time. You will then get sent an annual reminder to continue the injections, either by text, email or post, as you prefer.
Clients who have taken up the Proheart injection promotion find it the most convenient way to ensure their dog's safety. There are no more worries about missed pills or tummy upsets after giving the pill and your dog only has to have the injection once a year.
Katye joins our happy family.
Some of our clients may already have had the pleasure of meeting our new vet nurse team member Katye Lemay-Robbins. Katye started as a part time vet nurse in early December, having years of experience working in a local pet shop, looking after her horses, dogs and cats and will be starting her degree in Animal Studies at University of Adelaide in February. Katye is fitting in well and learning the hubvet way very quickly, now we just have to teach her how everyone likes their hot drinks and all will be perfect.
Rhonda and Torey's wedding in October 2010
After a prolonged and large distance relationship Rhonda and Torey finally managed to tie the knot, literally, in a hand fasting ceremony in Belair National Park, at Old Government House.
In front of family, friends and us of course, she and Torey had a beautiful service, to the tune of the local magpies, parrots and the odd grunting of koalas. Rhonda looked fabulous in her home made full length medieval style wedding dress, whilst Torey cut a dash in his Pirate frock coat and shirt, all matched with a beautiful shade of red Mohawk, good job T!!!
Lots of sparkling wine was imbibed, followed by yummy cake and donuts, before they headed off at night in Mclaren Vale, to enjoy some good food and a warming port in front of the fire.
We wish them both good luck for their married life and lots of love and romance in their future.
